Biografie:

Meg Cabot wurde am 01. Februar 1967 in Bloomington, Indiana, als Tochter von College Professor C. Victor and Barbara Cabot, geboren.
Eigentlich heißt sie Meggin Patricia Cabot und sie ist sowohl unter diesen beiden Namen (Meg & Meggin), sowie unter den Pseudonymen Jenny Carroll und Patricia Cabot bekannt. (Eine Zeit lang schrieb' sie für drei Verlage, daher diese ganzen Namen).

Cabot arbeitete nach ihrem Philologiestudium zunächst als Illustratorin, dafür zog sie nach New York. Doch dann schrieb sie unter dem Pseudonym Patricia Cabot einige historische Frauen-Romane. Um ihre Rechnungen bezahlen zu können nahm sie verschiedene Jobs an, einschließlich eines Jahrzehnts als Assistenz Managerin eines Erstsemester Wohnheim (mit 700 Betten) der NYU. Inzwischen hat Meg Cabot fast 50 Romane für Jugendliche, junge Erwachsene und Erwachsene verfasst. :bigeek: Es wurden ca. 15 Millionen Bücher von ihr verkauft. :bigeek: Viele von ihnen waren "#1 New York Times bestsellers". Viel Bekanntheit genießt ihre Serie "Plötzlich Prinzessin", sie wurde in über 38 Ländern veröffentlicht. Walt Disney Pictures verfilmte das erste Buch und schob' auch noch einen zweiten Film nach. Vilt habt ihr schonmal die Fernsehserie "Missing" gesehen? "Missing" basiert auf ihrer "1-800-Where-R-You?" -Serie.

Im Moment schreibt sie an ihrer "Allie Finkle's Rules for Girls" -Serie, sowie an "Airhead" (für junge Erwachsene). Beide kommen diesen Frühling raus. Im Sommer 2009 kommt dann "Abandon", auch eine neue Serie (mal wieder was paranormales).

Meg Cabot heiratete am 01. April (kein Scherz!) 1993 in einem kleinen Dorf in Italien, lebt mit ihrem Mann Benjamin D. Egnatz (einem "financial writer", ich nehm an, d.h. er schreibt über Wirtschaft; und Dichter) und einer einäugigen Katze mit dem Namen Henrietta, sowie der Katze Gem, in Key West, New York City und Indiana. (Sie hat aber zwischenzeitlich auch in Kalifornien und Frankreich gelebt).
(Hier die Erklärung warum sie ausgerechnet an dem Tag geheiratet haben: "Their wedding date, April Fool’s Day, was a deliberate play on her husband's belief that only fools get married in the first place.")

Alle von Meg Cabot's Büchern wurden inspiriert von Sachen die ihr wirklich passiert sind, oder die sie sich gewünscht hat, sie würden ihr passieren. Einige Sachen hat sie ihren Tagebüchern entnommen, die sie in der High School geschrieben hat, verwendet allerdings nur nicht zu peinliche Stellen und will sie niemals jmd lesen lassen.
Außerdem sagte sie, sie könne es nicht ändern, sie muss einfach schreiben.

Die Bücher, die ich von Meg Cabot gelesen habe, habe ich fast ausschließlich auf Englisch gelesen (ich hab' vilt 2 auf Deutsch gelesen, also net viel), deshalb schreib' ich jetzt auch mal die Beschreibungen auf Englisch rein.

Ihre Bücher haben den Hang zum Happy End (tja, bei Romantik verständlich, oder?) aber auf eine Art, die vilt nicht jedem gefällt.
Ich les' gern mal ein Buch von ihr, wenn ich grad' ein Buch durch hab' das mich sehr beschäftigt hat oder so. Die Bücher machen Laune (imho) und man kann sein Englisch trainieren ^_-

Meg Cabot starts off the collection with THE EXTERMINATOR'S DAUGHTER. When Mary shows up at Swig, an exclusive VIP club in Manhattan, it's not to socialize. No, she's on a mission to take out Sebastian Drake -- and by take out, I mean kill him with a crossbow. But when Adam, a fellow student at Saint Eligius, takes his own potshots at the dreaded Sebastian, things get a lot more interesting.

Lauren Myracle, the author of THE CORSAGE, has written what is probably the saddest, and creepiest, story of the bunch. All Frankie wants is for her best guy friend, Will, to realize that it's his destiny to ask her to the prom. To accomplish that goal, she drags Will and her other best friend, Yun Sun, to visit Madame Zanzibar, a fortune-teller. She's sure that Madame Z will proclaim that Will is her one true love, and that will be that. But the psychic is short on information, but does end up grudgingly handing over to Frankie a dried up old corsage, which she says will grant her three wishes. Over the next couple of days, however, Frankie will come to realize that she'll have to make some requests that she never in her wildest dreams would have thought of making.

MADISON AVERY AND THE DIM REAPER by Kim Harrison is the longest story in the group, and the most involved. When Madison ends up at the costume prom with a dud date, she's surprised to find one guy who can pick up the slack. Seth isn't like anyone she's ever met before. Unfortunately, before too long she'll find out why that is, and the picture it paints isn't pretty. There are deaths, white reapers, black reapers, grim reapers, and odd amulets. I really liked this story, and would be happy to see more of these characters in the future.

Michele Jaffe's story, KISS AND TELL, was by far my favorite. Miranda has a secret. Not only is she a student and a part-time driver/chaeffeur, but she also fights crime in her spare time. It turns out Miranda has special abilities that allow her to do things most regular teens can't do -- like, say, knock over a lamppost just by leaning on it. This particular day turns out to be stranger than the norm, though, when she picks up young Sibby Cumean, a strange girl who has an even stranger habit of kissing every boy she can find. When weird things start happening, Miranda's day turns into an action-adventure movie beyond anything she could have expected. I LOVED this story, and I HAVE to read more about Miranda and Sibby in the future! Yes, Ms. Jaffe, that's me begging!!

Last but not least is HELL ON EARTH by Stephenie Meyer. This is the story of Sheba, a demon on earth who loves bringing misery to others. Her plan is working pretty well, too, because nearly everyone at the prom is having a downright horrible time. Everyone, that is, except for Gabe, who seems not just happy but serene. By the time Sheba can figure out what's happening, it's too late, and prom just might end up having a happy ending after all.

PROM NIGHTS FROM HELL is a great paranormal anthology that teens and adults alike will enjoy. I highly recommend picking up a copy today!"

"This book is a great example of why you shouldn't lie, and what the consequences of lying are. Which, by the way, are Not Good.

Katie is a popular girl in her small town of Eastport, which is known for it's quahogs (clams). She is dating a Quahog (the name of the high school football team) and is loved by almost everyone. Everyone except for Tommy Sullivan. He was "ran out of town" four years ago, which was also the one year that the state-championship-winning Quahogs had to forfeit. That year someone also wrote "Tommy Sullivan is a freak" on the new middle school gym wall. Everything is good, minus the fact that she is a total liar (due to the fact that she is secretly cheating on her boyfriend) and gets motion sickness.

Then Tommy Sullivan comes back.

Katie is running for the Quahog Princess, which is during the Quahog festival at the end of the summer. That pageant goes wacko during the question and answer session. You will just have to read the book to find out what happens.

I really enjoyed this book. It's very funny and Mrs. Cabot makes it even funnier with her amazing writing style. It's a super fast read, hilarious, and intriguing."

o_O Grad hab' ich die Short Story gelesen und da musste ich an Bis(s) denken! Die Ähnlichkeiten! (Naja, bleibt bei solchen Themen wohl nicht ganz aus ^_^; )
Ok, ich spoil jetzt mal bissel (am Ende lest ihr die Short Story dadurch noch ):
Toter, total gut aussehender Typ, genauergesagt Geist, genannt Jesse, kann nur von Suze gesehen werden (weil sie ein Mediator ist) und somit ist sie die einzige "Sterbliche" der er nahe kommen kann (also auf die romantische Weise (aber vorher hatte er wohl auch nicht groß das Verlangen?!)). Und naja, Edward zählt sich selbst ja auch nicht zu den Lebenden
Hm, Jesse ist seit 150 Jahren tot und der hübscheste Tote ever "Because even though he's been dead a hundred fifty years, Jesse is still the handsomest guy I've ever seen." -> best-aussehendster Toter, nein wer redet hier von Ähnlichkeiten?
"It was the smile that did it. The smile that, each and every time I saw it, caused something inside of me to wilt." -> Ich sag' nur Edward's schiefes Lächeln, das Knochen-zum-schmelzen-bring-Lächeln ^_-
Dann gesteht sie sich ein, dass sie ihn liebt und dann das: "Not that I'm about to let him know it. Because what kind of guy-even a dead one-could possibly ever love a freak like me?" -> Freak, hm?
"I happen," I said, looking away from Jesse's shrewd, night-dark eyes-not to mention the place where his old-fashioned shirt fell open to reveal a set of abs Greg Sanderson would have envied--"to be extremely busy right now." -> argh, es wird immer schlimmer!
"So that means no dancing for you?" he asked.
"Dancing?" I could feel heat rushing into my cheeks. He isn't, I told myself sternly, asking you to dance. He's just asking in general. Don't get your hopes up. -> flush, darling, flush...

Und dann will er ihr ja auch nicht verraten wie das so mit dem Tod ist! @_@ ich muss unbedingt diese Bücher wieder hervorgraben, ich hab glaub' ich beim 4. aufgehört. Ich muss das nochma' lesen, dass is' so süß wie er sie sprachlos macht und so!

"Vor allem für Meg Cabot-Fans ist dieses Buch (das übrigens teilweise die Geschichte von Meg's eigener Hochzeit erzählt) wirklich empfehlenwert - zum Wegschmelzen und zum Weglachen. Ich gebe es zu: die Story an sich ist etwas simpel und altbekannt (zwei Menschen brennen nach Italien durch, um gegen den Willen ihrer mit altmodischen Ansichten verblendeten Eltern zu heiraten, und nehmen jeweils ihre beste Freundin bzw. besten Freund als Trauzeugen mit. Und was passiert natürlich: genau, die beiden verlieben sich ebenfalls. Tata.) Dennoch, das Buch ist einfach liebenswert, ist es doch erfrischend anders - es besteht nur aus Tagebuch- und PDA-Einträgen, aus E-mails, Kassenbons, Flugtickets und Speisekarten - und mit witzigen Einfällen gespickt, wie z. B. typisch-besorgte E-mails der Mütter beider Eheleute usw. Für alle, die es genauer wissen wollen, hier noch mal der Inhalt:
Die erfolgreiche Comiczeichnerin Jane ist die Trauzeugin von Holly, die mit ihrem Freund Mark nach Italien "durchbrennt", wo sie sich mit ihm verheiraten will - ohne dass sie irgendjemanden darüber informiert haben. Vor allem nicht ihre Eltern, die auf Grund ihrer unterschiedlichen Religionsangehörigkeiten gar nichts von der Verbindung halten und die beiden lieber mit anderen Menschen verkuppeln würden. (Anm.: meinerseits: Wondercat ist kA i-wie mit Garfield vergleichbar. Selbst in dem kleinen toskanischen Städtchen wo sie wohnen kennt man Wondercat! (Ich sag' euch das wird im Laufe des Buchs noch manchmal lustig). Ich möchte an dieser Stelle spoilen und sagen, dass, nachdem Cal, Mr.-Foreign-Affairs-Kolummnist-der-Zeitungen-in-denen-derartige-Comics-abgedruckt-werden-nicht-liest (uh, ich erinnere mich net mehr genau, aber ich glaub' sie haben nicht für die gleiche Zeitung gearbeitet (not sure anymore ^_^; )), hat nachdem er einen Comicstrip gelesen hat schallend gelacht und nannte Jane "Comic Genuis".)

"This was another excellent book from Meggin Cabot in the easy-to-read format of e-mails and journal entries. As usual the heroine is 'normal' and someone you can relate to and the hero is sexy, strong and manly! Except for his flaw of not believing that a marriage can work, oh, and his determination to make sure that his best friend doesn't fall into one, then he's perfect; he's rich, intelligent, sexy, full of muscles, has a rather a large, um, well...it is only a rumour!
There is a lot of scenic description of Italy - where the story is based - and most of it is how the majority of the italian scenery is, and makes you want to go there for a week and soak up the sun and idylic lifestyle.
The only gripe I have is that the ending was a little bit off-key, not terrible, but could possibly have been better, less run-of-the-mill predictible stuff that doesn't have to be the end to every romance story would have made the whole book more perfect to me.
Nevertheless it is a wonderful story and easy to get through in one sitting - or pick up and put down every few minutes without forgetting what is going on, if you have a hectic lifestyle. It brightened a few hours of my otherwise humdrum life anyway. Hooray!"

Dem Unterschtrichenen (Toskana - man will sofort hin) kann ich mich nur anschließen. Ich war bisher nur 1x in Rom, aber das Buch hat mir den Mund wässrig gemacht! Ich war kurz davor ins nächste Flugzeug zu springen und ein paar Tage dort zu verbringen! Toskana ich komme! (Bin dann allerdings doch in Deutschland geblieben). Ich habe extra die 3 Rezessionen rausgepickt und unterstrichen, was mir besonders aufgefallen ist bzw. gut gefallen hat.

Meiner Meinung nach muss man die Boy Series nicht stur nach Liste lesen. Ich habe auch "Every Boy's Got One" zuerst gelesen, jetzt hab' ich "Boy Meets Girl" angelesen und muss mir dann nur noch das erste besorgen
Aber man kann die wirklich als Stand Alones sehen, der größte gemeinsame Nenner ist die Zeitung, bei der/für die alle arbeiten, genannt "The NY Journal".
Mir ist aufgefallen, das manchmal der Name von jmd aus dem andren Buch genannt wird, z.B. wenn sich welche über Kollegen unterhalten oder so. Aber es ist nicht so, als würden die Geschichten großartig zusammen gehören oder z.B. sich auseinander entwickeln (war das verständlich??).

Im Laufe der Zeit kann ich auch noch andere Bücher posten, aber
a) fürchte ich bereits jetzt, dass ihr erschlagen seit (hat's eigtl jmd bis hier unten geschafft??) und
b) wie ihr ja oben lesen konntet hat Meg Cabot bis jetzt knapp 50 Bücher geschrieben und so viel will ich mir und euch jetzt auch nicht zu muten!

Hm. Sie kann schon ziemlich gut Geschichten erzählen, vorallem für Jugendliche, aber mein Fall ist sie nicht. Mir fehlt da so ein bisschen die Message oder der Kern. Ihre Geschichten sind mir ein bisschen zu Diva-mäßig.
Ich habe dieses Buch über Jessica Mastriani, dem Blitzmädchen gelesen. Ist zwar ganz unterhaltsam aber irgendwie auch nicht mehr.

Hm das is' die 1-800-Where-R-You?-Serie, die Basis für die TV Serie "Missing". Das hab' ich selbst net gelesen, aber ich denke es kommt auch drauf an, ob man die Bücher für Jugendliche oder für Erwachsende liest.

Nein, nicht das ich wüsste. Ich meinte, es ist halt auch ein Unterschied, ob man Bücher von ihr liest, die die Zielgruppe Jugendliche oder junge Erwachsene hat oder die Zielgruppe Erwachsene.

Hab das zweite und dritte "Plötzlich Prinzessin"-Buch von ihr gelesen und beide Filme zur Reihe gesehen. Wobei mir die Filme irgendwie besser gefielen - vielleicht liegt es daran, dass ich viel lieber Filme in diesem Stil sehe als Bücher davon lese. Wie dynastic auch schon sagte, mag ich diese Diva-Geschichten eigentlich nicht so. Die Bücher, die ich gelesen habe, gefallen mir ganz gut, aber nicht mehr so gut, dass ich mehr von ihr lesen würde.
