SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON: ITEMS AND EVENTS OF NOTE

MOVIE TEASER POSTER:
A special movie teaser poster, featuring Mignola's rendering of actor Ron
Perlman as Hellboy, will be available on Thursday at SDCC! This will be a
real collector's item-- a limited edition of 2004 copies-- matching the
release date of the film.

The unfolded teaser poster will be distributed at the Dark Horse booth
(#2115) prior to the HELLBOY panel. People should visit the Dark Horse
booth FIRST THING Thursday morning. No posters will be held for anyone--
you only get them by showing up at the booth before they run out.


PROMO POSTER:
At WizardWorld Chicago, Dark Horse gave away a "Soon to be a Major Motion
Picture" HELLBOY promotional poster featuring splash art from the
forthcoming HELLBOY LUNCHBOX #2.

The HELLBOY film is currently in pre-production and slated for a Summer
2004 release. Dark Horse presents an exclusive preview with key members
from the film's creative team, including creator Mike Mignola, director
Guillermo del Toro, and actor Ron Perlman (starring as Hellboy)!
Here's your chance to ask questions and get the scoop on this upcoming
blockbuster!


SIGNINGS:
Mike Mignola will attending the show on Thursday ONLY.
He'll be signing with Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman at the Dark Horse
booth (#2115) from 4:30-6:00 PM on Thursday, August 1st.


ORIGINAL ART:
The only NEW Mignola art for sale at SDCC 2002 will be a page that Mike is
donating to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. It'll be a piece from either
THE AMAZING SCREW-ON HEAD or HELLBOY: THE THIRD WISH.

Ron Perlman ist ne fantastische Besetzung für die Rolle, aber manche Comics brauch ich echt nicht als Film, dies hier wär so ein Fall...

Danke für den Hinweis auf das Panel! Sind wirklich viele informative Passagen enthalten... Besonders der lustige Abschnitt über die Fragen der Studioleute und Guillermos Kommentar zu Mike:

About Mike: When I was shooting a movie in 97 and having a really hard time doing it, essentially having a grinder on my nuts going very slowly...then popping one at a time, I would have one single thing to look forward to and that was every single issue of Hellboy. I love Mike. I remember the period when Mike became Mike when he went from Rocket Raccoon to all of a sudden in Cosmic Odyssey and there was those weird figures with huge torsos and tiny legs, and that guy with the huge fucking hole in his chest. And there were all those crazy things and little by little, Mike was becoming more his own creature. The way he evolved and all of a sudden: Hellboy. And when Hellboy happened I knew I was looking at a universe that was so unique. I don't know if it happens to you but very seldom a comic book would make me recede back in years and become regress to a ten-year-old kid. When that happens at the ripe old age of 38 and 500 fucking pounds on each cheek of my ass, that's magic. That is something that is not often scene. and you go, "if this is that fucking good why am I not dedicating several years of my life to making it happen? So that's why I'm working with them!

DVD-Tipp:

Zum Film kann man stehen wie man möchte (zu bunt, zu viele Innenaufnahmen, zu wenig Stil), aber die neue BLADE II DVD bietet auf jeden Fall ein sehr interessantes und ausführliches "Making of", das gute Einblicke in Del Toros Arbeitsweise gewährt. Zudem brauchen Hellboy-Komplettisten den Film ja schon wegen des BPRD-T-Shirts von Scud und den vielen Kulissen nach Mignolas Entwürfen. Und ein paar nette Szenen hat BLADE II auch zu bieten: Die "Vampir-Ninjas" am Anfang, Perlman als "Reinhard", Schlußfight mit dezenten aber sehr coolen Special-Effects...

2003 is going to be a huge year for Hellboy and the BPRD...
Beginning in February, there will be a new bi-monthly anthology series
featuring Hellboy and/or the BPRD. Dark Horse has worked out an

The first one-shot will be by Mike Avon Oeming (POWERS) and Miles
Gunter-- a BPRD story set in Venice.

Nicht direkt Movie-News, aber ich habe jetzt endlich mal The Devil's Backbone gesehen (del Toros Film vor BladeII): sehr, sehr gut! Stimmungsvoll, hintergründig, sparsame aber wunderschöne Special-Effects, klasse Schauspieler, tolle Farben. Man sollte sich nur vorher ein wenig über die Zeit des spanischen Bürgerkriegs ('36-'39) informieren - das erleichtert den Einstieg.
Unbedingt ausleihen, wenn er euch in einer Videothek in die Hände fällt! Wird Hellboy auch nur halb so gut, kann man mehr als zufrieden sein.
An diesem Film hat übrigens auch eine der ganz großen Comiclegenden mitgewirkt: Carlos Gimenez hat Entwürfe und Storyboard-Zeichnungen beigesteuert. Lag bei diesem Thema auch nahe.

Schaut aber besser aus als ich dachte Hätte mMn vieleicht noch ein wenig eckiger sein können und die haare schauen ein wenig merkwürdig aus...aber sonst okay...

Ich weiß auch nicht genau, was ich erwartet hatte, aber ein wenig enttäuscht bin ich schon - und dafür die lange Wartezeit...

Von einem normalen Foto kann man nicht einen ganzen Film beurteilen...
finde sieht sehr gut aus...bin auf den ARM gespannt...

Später, wenn mehr mit Licht und Filmfiltern und Effekten gespielt wird, wird alles düsterer und echter aussehen.
Wenn man sich normale Fotos von anderen Filmen ansieht (HdR;Star Wars, Matrix etc.), sieht auch alles etwas unecht aus.
Die Überarbeitung gibt allem den echten Schliff.
